All About Anna Maria Island

Anna Maria Island, formerly a well-kept secret among Floridians, is now well-known for its charming business districts, emerald green and turquoise Gulf waters, and sugar-white beach coastline.

On Anna Maria Island, you may still find the “old” Florida charm, flip flops are a way of life, and the speed limit is always 35 mph.  The turquoise blue seas of the Gulf of Mexico complement the white sand perfectly, giving Anna Maria Island a distinct sense of paradise that is not found on beaches along the east coast.

How do you get to Anna Maria Island Beach?

If you’re driving to Anna Maria Island, you can access the island via two main routes:

From the North

Take Interstate 75 (I-75) South to Exit 220 for State Road 64 West. Continue on SR-64, which will take you directly to Anna Maria Island via the Manatee Avenue Bridge.

From the South

Take Interstate 75 (I-75) North to Exit 220 for State Road 64 West. Follow SR-64 across the Manatee Avenue Bridge onto Anna Maria Island.

Once on the island, you can easily navigate using the main roads: Gulf Drive (this runs the length of the island), Marina Drive, and Palm Drive.
